The Gateway Arts District was blasted back in time 2 Saturdays ago, when Bursting In Air debuted 6 new murals by 3 artist teams at the Alt. Route 1 Overpass beside Franklin’s Restaurant, Brewery, & General Store in Downtown Hyattsville. Each mural featured themes relating to Route 1’s history on route to the War of 1812 that took place in Bladensburg that ended in 1814. The event also featured 3 themed performances. The event was hosted by the Hyattsville Community Development Corporation with several community partners, including

thank-you 600xThe event welcomed an average of over 1400 visitors over the 5 hour span (with a count of 400 visitors on site at the event’s peak based on parking and volunteers). The event also featured local vendors, a Program Book (available online), and invites your feedback for a quick online survey. The murals are located at the Overpass (and underpass) nearest 5123 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD 20781.
