Artist Studio Accepting Applications in Bethesda

Bethesda Urban Partnership and Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District Will Operate Studio B

Oct. 8, 2013 (Bethesda, MD) – The Bethesda Urban Partnership and Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District announce that artist applications for Studio B located at 7475 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda are currently being accepted

The Bethesda Urban Partnership and Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District will operate Studio B which will include artist studio spaces and exhibition space for three selected artists.  Artists who reside in Maryland, Washington, D.C. or Virginia are eligible to apply.  Studios will be available for occupancy beginning in late 2013.  Deadline to apply is Oct. 25, 2013.  Artists interested in seeing the space should email artist@bethesda.org to set up an appointment.

The studios will feature 24-hour access, wireless internet, exhibition space and artist promotion provided by the Bethesda Urban Partnership.  All studios are work-only and rent is inclusive of all utilities. Studios may be shared by two artists.

The mission of the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District, Inc., 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is to create and implement arts and entertainment projects that contribute to the artistic, cultural and economic growth of downtown Bethesda.  The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District was designated by the state of Maryland in 2002, and re-designated again in 2012.   Additionally, the Maryland Department of Economic Development awarded the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District the Arts & Entertainment District Outstanding Achievement Award in 2012.

Bethesda Urban Partnership, Inc. (BUP) is the non-profit organization established by Montgomery County in 1994 to maintain and market downtown Bethesda. BUP fulfills the landscaping and maintenance needs of downtown Bethesda, and creates cultural events and exciting festivals such as the Taste of Bethesda, Bethesda Literary Festival, Bethesda Fine Arts Festival and more. In its 17-year operation, BUP created Bethesda Transportation Solutions in 2000, established the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District in 2002 and took over the management of the Bethesda Circulator in 2006.
