Creative Life in the Gateway Arts District
Since 2001, Joe’s Movement Emporium has led the community of Mount Rainier in a clean-up initiative that has greatly impacted the knowledge of both children and adults on the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling.
During Sweeping the Avenue, community members take part in various workshops, performances and activities related to trash reduction and also take part in cleaning up the neighborhood. As a result, the streets are trash-free and people are educated about trash reduction, making a conscious effort to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Bring clothes and accessories to share and reuse. Clean out your closet and inherit a new wardrobe. Clothes can be dropped off the day of the event or at Joe’s from April 14 to 21. All remaining clothes will be donated to the ARC Thrift Store in Beltsville that benefits programs serving adults with developmental disabilities.
