Creative Life in the Gateway Arts District

CALL FOR ARTISTS!

Art Lives Here is proud to be a supporter of the Anacostia Watershed Society‘s (AWS) Storm Drain Art Project. AWS is seeking sketch ideas for storm drain painting that will be completed on storm drains around Mt. Rainier this spring.  Three designs will be chosen and carried out by three different groups of elementary school students on various storm drains in the Mount Rainier area.

Cost of materials will be covered in addition to an artist commission. Artists will have to prep the storm drain before the painting day for the kids with outlines/guidelines for the design. Artists also must be present the day of the painting in order to direct and organize the young painters and put the finishing touches in the piece.

Artists are encouraged to use their imagination in creating a  piece that can be carried out by elementary school students. We encourage you to think about the vision of AWS to make the Anacostia River and its tributaries swimmable and fishable for the health and enjoyment of everyone in the community.
